That’s a lot of Smoky Mountain Rain
We’ve been talking a lot about mountains and dams, so take a look at this shot. Fontana Dam is is the highest concrete dam east of the Rocky Mountains, and impounds Fontana Lake. The lake is one of the deepest and most beautiful you’ll see in your travels, and it forms most of the southern border of Smoky Mountain National Park. The Appalachian Trail runs right along the top of the dam, and makes this a popular stop for visitors world wide.
