Bethany Bridge has become an iconic shooting location for Hollywood. Yes, Hollywood! The movie industry has made Atlanta the new LA, and in doing so, given new life and fame to the rural landscape of Bartow County.
Carving through the foothills of the Appalachian mountains, Red Top Mountain Road crosses one of the deepest ravines in the area. Bethany Bridge stands more than 100 feet over the original bed of Allatoona Creek.
Douthit Ferry Bridge and it’s predecessor cross the Etowah River among farmland and residential communities. Plant Bowen stands tall on the horizon.
Red Top Mountain Road towers over GA Highway 293 and the Western & Atlantic Railroad. The expansion of Red Top Mountain Road in 2009 was one of the first steps in a major project to develop Emerson, GA.
In addition to Bethany Bridge, this section of Red Top Mountain Road has also made appearances on the silver screen due to it’s appeal to continuity. The setting has been used to portray highways all over North America.
